I think your mound to plate distance differs too much. By this logic a baseball and baseball pitcher will get lit up by softball batters because they'll have more distance to see the ball coming. I bet an elite high-school boys pitcher strikes out all pro softball batters. They'll barely foul off

Great video and fascinating to learn about these baseball storylines. One small suggestion - I'd love to know they "why" of a lot of this stuff. Why was he able to do this? Why is his slow fastball so unhittable? Why did wearing that make a difference? You mentioned something about his placement but I think spending a bit of time on that would be fascinating as well.

Im ambidex and played hockey, i had a flat stick because I would play both wings depending on where I was needed they had to make flat sticks because they are not simply sold at your average canadian tire.

I get what you're trying to say but It wasn't his pitch call accuracy that was the reason for his bad reputation it was his long history of making game altering bad calls at other positions that lead to that. we haven't heard of those 22 guys who are slightly less accuracy pitch callers because they don't compilations of them making bad calls in game deciding moments or getting 3 calls reversed in a single playoff game. All of his worst calls were when he wasn't calling pitches, he was still a very bad ump and should have been demoted after that embarrassing 3 calls game.

I liked baseball better when pitchers dusted guys off once in a while. No need to be a dick and throw a fastball at his head, just a breaking ball toward the ass to let him know that mocking their manager was a bad idea. Reminds me of how the NHL doesn't allow fights anymore: it was a perfectly fine, self-regulating system of professionals (and fans loved the hockey fights). Some pitchers occasionally took it too far, but then there were consequences for that pitcher's teammates, so they would reign in their own guy. Self-regulating. Now players get tossed for saying two words to an umpire, pitchers are afraid to push batters off the inside of the plate, and even still the nicest, most universally liked and respected player in the game is out for 6-8 weeks with a broken hand caused by being hit by a pitch. Maybe MLB has been hiring Roger Goddell as a consultant.
